Mother’s Day.  A day that means different things to different people.

For most, we know that this day is all about cards & gifts…the flowers, fluffy slippers, tea cups, cakes & all things pink!

A day of celebrating mother’s, mum’s, mummy’s, mama’s….whatever the label may be.

My heart will always go out to those on Mother’s Day who are trying to become a mum, who are desperately trying to become a mum and have been for some time.

My heart will always go out to those on Mother’s Day who were once pregnant, and never got the chance to hold their baby in their arms.  This was me in 2020.  A gut-wrenching feeling when Mother’s Day comes around and yet the opportunity to celebrate as you imagined was taken from you.  If this is you, I empathise.  And I do hope that one day, your hopes and dreams to become a mummy do come true.

This is my philosophy on all life, not just when it comes to love. All the best things are terrifying, but that’s why they’re the best things. Nothing worth having comes easy. You have to be afraid to want it, afraid to lose it, afraid to try. If you feel that, then you know you’re on to a winner. — Thomas S. Monson

My heart will always go out to those who are pregnant on Mother’s Day, having previously experienced pregnancy loss.  This was me in 2021.  For me, this quote sums up the journey to parenthood following pregnancy loss, I was afraid to want it, afraid to lose it (again) and afraid to try (again).

I can only speak for my husband and I when I say that we are glad that we never gave up.

What I can now gratefully share is that despite being in those shoes in 2020 and 2021, I am now the proud mummy to my beautiful baby boy.  The journey for my husband and I was not easy.  Far from it.  We chose to endure the pain, navigate the detours and battle through the challenges.  And boy (pun intended!), was it worth it!  It’s worth ‘hanging in there’ for.  It’s worth the emotional (and financial) investment.  Because the reward is just that!

Today, I officially publish my website https://ftminmelbourne.com/.  To learn more about why I have chosen to create this platform, click here

I know that I am not the only one in these shoes.  I would love to hear from you should you wish to connect.  A sense of “me too” is invaluable when it comes to being a FTM (or on your journey to becoming one!).
